Rick Morse, puppeteer, delighted children and adults alike when he brought the classic fairytale, Jack in the Beanstalk, to life through puppets. All families received the hardcover book, Jack in the Beanstalk, by Barbara Vagnozzi as well as a take-home sequencing activity. The sequencing activity offers children an excellent opportunity to retell the story in their own words (improving oral language skills).

Other extension ideas:
Phonological Awareness:
Have fun with the phrase "fee-fi-fo-fum." Use different letters in place of the "f", such as "b": "bee-bi-bo-bum." Children might especially enjoy substituting the first letter of their name in place of the "f."
Print Awareness:
When you first sit down to read the book, turn it upside down and/or backwards to see if your child corrects you. If not, you might prompt: "Am I holding this book right?" This is an opportunity to help your child understand that print has meaning and we generally read in a certain direction (front to back, top to bottom, and left to right).
