Big Chickens by author Leslie Helakoski was chosen as the 2007 book of the year by Michigan Reads! Kalkaska CARES brought the author to Rapid City Elementary and Birch Street Elementary to meet our preschool students and read them a few stories.

The children really enjoyed Leslie's wonderful storytelling techniques.
