Literacy is Happening in Mrs. Knight's Classroom!

Classroom News

In February, 2008, the preschool students in Mrs. Knight's classroom had an exciting day visiting the Coast Guard Station in Traverse City. The children were delighted to ride a real bus after learning about transportation in the classroom. They were even more delighted to learn, and practice, the life-saving techniques used by the Coast Guard when someone is stranded in the water. The field trip was an excellent opportunity to extend our children's background knowledge on the importance of community helpers -the subject of their Open Court Unit Four studies.
